Leaf raking in Trinity's park
Volunteers will be needed to rake the leaves in Trinity's park and haul them to the curb for the town to pick up. The date depends on when most of the leaves are down, so watch the bulletin and your email for it.
Dillsboro, Indiana · Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
Every Sunday we gather to hear God's Word and to receive His gifts of forgiveness and life, and we would be glad to have you with us.
Advent and Christmas
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given” Isaiah 9:6 (ESV)
Visit
Sunday morning at Trinity begins with Bible Class and Sunday School at 9:00, and worship follows at 10:00. You are welcome at either or both.
Our services follow the historic liturgy of the church from Lutheran Service Book, the hymnal we use every Sunday. The bulletin has the order of service, so you can follow along, sing, or simply listen.
In the Lord's Supper, Jesus gives His true body and blood, in, with, and under the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of sins. He said so Himself: “Take, eat; this is my body,” and “this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:26, 28 ESV).
Because receiving the Supper together is also a confession of one faith, Trinity practices closed communion, in keeping with the practice of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. If you are not a member of a Missouri Synod congregation, please speak with Pastor Richardson before the service, and he will gladly talk with you about the Supper and what we believe.
Children are welcome in worship, and Sunday School for children meets at 9:00.
Beliefs
Trinity is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We believe the Holy Scriptures are the Word of God, and we confess their teaching as it is summarized in the Lutheran Confessions, gathered in the Book of Concord of 1580.
God's Law shows us our sin: we have not loved God with our whole heart or our neighbor as ourselves, and we cannot save ourselves. So God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who died on the cross for the sins of the whole world and rose again on the third day. For Jesus' sake God forgives sinners freely.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV)
God gives this forgiveness through the means He has chosen: the preaching of His Word, Holy Baptism, and the Lord's Supper. In Baptism He washes us and makes us His children, and in the Supper He feeds us with the true body and blood of His Son. That is why we gather every Sunday: to hear Him speak and to receive what He gives.
